What is NN-VCORE?
We are the Newport News chapter of VCORE, the Virginia Caucus of Rank and File Educators. We are a group of members within the VEA and our local NNEA who share a similar vision for the union's commitments, ideals, and goals. VCORE is committed to building a fighting workers union that defends the collective interests of education workers and that advances a public education system that better serves students, families, and the community.

Collective bargaining is now legal for public employees in Virginia. The NNEA should fight for NNPS employees to have a seat at the table to negotiate better salaries, working conditions, and benefits.
A Transparent, Accountable Union:

The NNEA should seek input from members and keep them informed of upcoming general and executive board meetings and advocacy opportunities. NN-VCORE candidates will follow the NNEA bylaws and will promote bottom-up, grassroots unionism that builds worker power through member participation.

Teacher and staff working conditions are student learning conditions. NN-VCORE is pro-worker and pro-student. Winning better learning/working conditions, better pay, and better benefits through collective bargaining will help districts attract and retain quality teachers and staff and will also help prevent worker burnout, to the benefit of our young learners.
